The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, on Wednesday announced a plan to set up a full-fledged university in Rangamati.
She said this as she talked with the Rangamati deputy commissioner through video conferencing after inaugurating web portals of 64 districts in her office marking the first anniversary of her government.
The prime minister said, ‘We will set up a university for the three hill districts.’
She said a special fund would be arranged for implementation of the university project.
Hasina said the previous Awami League government had taken up a plan to establish a technology university in Rangamati but the successive BNP government scrapped it. She expressed her hope that the university would also be a place of tourist attraction.
