Raja Tridiv Roy welcomes the Queen Elizabeth II in Chittagong, 1961.

Bhutto and his entire cabinet receive Raja Tridiv Roy. Raja Tridiv Roy was sent as Head of the Pakistan delegation to the United Nations in 1972. Hailing from Chittagong there was a lot of pressure on him from his family (including his mother) and the Bangladesh and Indian delegations to defect but he resisted all pressures. On his return to Pakistan in December 1972, President Bhutto with his entire cabinet received Roy, who still holds ministerial rank in pakistan.

Minister for Life in Pakistan - Raja Tridiv Roy. One of two non Awami League candidates to win in the 1970 elections from East Pakistan, the Chakma tribe leader Raja Tridiv Roy is a Cabinet Minister for life in Pakistan since 1972. Although not invited to cabinet meetings since quite some time, he retains ministerial rank and status. His autobiography 'The Departed Melody' makes an interesting reading. Roy proved his loyalty to Pakistan when he led a Pakistan delegation to the UN and resisted all pressures including that of his mother to defect to Bangladesh. He returned to a hero's welcome in Islamabad where Prime Minister Bhutto and his entire cabinet received him.
